Reece Burke
To be honest it really isn't like me to allow a youngster to slip through my radar. Had never heard of him prior to the Sampdoria game. Saw the goal and can honestly say That in my lifetime ice only seen Alvin Martin & Rio Ferdinand bring the ball out like that.

Anyone in the know offer any in depth details on the lad?

Re: Reece Burke
I though tbe whole defence was rock solid. Defence in general was. The OG was an aberation in an otherwise sid display agaisnt a pretty poor team.
That's what galls when it comes to our attacking play. It was so laboured and unimaginative like they were scared to try anything.

After watching poyet a few times I think the fat man has to find a place in the 1st team sooner rather than later for the boy, look's very good IMO.

It's early days but I thought he was very composed and showed touches of class last night. Yes it would be tougher against Prem strikers, but a good prospect nevertheless. He brought the ball out of defence on one occasion & was very "Rio'esque".

Oh Chim, I didn't say Reid was shit but had an ok game, not his usual commanding self.

Re: Reece Burke
Admiral Lard,

You're definitely in the minority. Reid was strangely out of sorts last night and was given a tough game by a league one striker.

Burke on the other hand, seemed assured on the ball, strong in the air and tackle and for someone so young at centre half looked very confident and composed. It would of course still be a huge gamble to stick him in at a higher level at this stage but it was a very encouraging performance.

Re: Reece Burke
He is 17, if he was ready to start in the Premiership every week at centre back, it'd be a miracle, I couldn't name you one other player who has been.

He does have all the tools to be top class eventually, though.

Re: Reece Burke
Got to say I agree with Lard. He's a good prospect and was clever enough to win the ball and go short to Poyet who then always played the positive ball.

A good prospect against a League one team playing out of their skins and doing their best to kick him up in the air but I'd be nervous about starting him in a Premiership match.

I don't get this 'Reid was absolute shit' either. Besides the OG (which wasn't his fault) I thought he did okay.

Re: Reece Burke
WHAT A LOAD OF COCK

Reid kept them at bay with some outstanding defending... Yes he had the OG very unfortunate part of any defenders life

Not saying Burke is poor he is simply not in the league of Collins, Tompkins or Reid

Lard - It was Reid who was maing the mistakes last night. THis kid looks really rpomising. even better Poyet - never passed a bad ball, looks really culturesd and can tackle.

Boy out of Newham. Doubly hope he's a success.

Re: Reece Burke
Didn't he play in the Forest game last season? Looked a bit lightweight then.

Looked cultured against Sampdoria though. Seems to be developing well!

Re: Reece Burke
He is nowhere near ready. Reid got him out of trouble time and again.

Put him in front of a top 10 attack he'd be blown away

One of the quotes on BBC sports snips was that Oxford is already on ManU radar, gather he is only 16 or 17. Seems as if we have one or two for the future, if we can keep them.

Burke came on in the second half of the Forest FA Cup tie when fatty tried to humiliate the youngsters to prove a point to Sullivan and Gold. He's like that, fatso.
